Art is my friend that gives me energy

art is my friend

Art is my friend that gives me energy.

I am drawing again! I am cutting and pasting and painting and loving it! Making art is something I have done on and off since childhood and it is something that has brought me great joy and satisfaction, but I slipped into another little dip again recently and stopped. Just like that.

And you know what? That’s exactly how I started again… just like that!

My creativity ebbs and flows and an awareness that my art-making had ground to a halt was all I needed to begin again. Now, I am consciously creating on a regular basis and it feels so good. The more I do, the more I want to do. Making art gives me energy. I love the feel of the pen in my hand; the endless possibilities in that moment when your pen first touches paper – sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, but always I can begin again. Making art on a daily basis gives me a feeling of achievement and a sense of satisfaction. It impacts on other areas of life as I am calmer after making a piece of art I am happy with and these days, I am also content to stick with something until I am happy with it. Perfectionism is out the window; I know I will never be the world’s best artist, but being actively creative is enough.

I have said before that art is my friend when nobody else is there and it is true.
Art is a constant.
Art is always available; ever faithful.
Art is my friend that gives me energy.
Art is the friend that I always go back to.

How do you feel when you create? Does making art give you energy?
