Waterborne, May 2022

  • BloQs 2 Anthony Way London, England, N18 3QT United Kingdom (map)

As a regular visitor to the huge and wonderfully well-equipped maker space, BloQs in Tottenham, I was delighted to have one of my paintings chosen from an open call to artists to be exhibited in the group exhibition Waterborne. Located beside the canal, the theme is fitting and brings together over thirty artists from Enfield and beyond, working in a variety of media.

My painting, ‘Turbulent Waters’ is one of two pieces that I painted alongside each other in 2021, using the same colour palette and featuring fast flowing waters in front of distant hills. The paintings represent my busy mind in the face of challenges at the time, yet feature uplifting colours, the sea acting as a barrier between myself and the appealing landscapes just out of reach.

My painting process is spontaneous, the layers of meaning are almost always related to my state of mind at the time of creation, often revealing themselves whilst the paintings are in progress or when complete.

Do make a visit to BloQs and enjoy the exhibition, as well as the delicious food served in the BloQs cafe where the show can be seen.

Both ‘Turbulent Waters’ and its partner painting are currently for sale. Get in touch for further details or to purchase.
